Our Launching Pad

Before I launch into the reveal of our morning Launching Pad/Sunscreen Cabinet (too corny?), I wanted to let you all know that my master bath is being featured on Remodelaholic today!

OK, back to my regularly scheduled post. This cabinet is a Jack-of-all-trades as far as furniture and family organization is concerned. Conveniently located between the kitchen and the dining room, we pass it a million times each day.

I needed a place to do my daughter's hair if it wasn't done before we come downstairs for breakfast. Plus, it had to hold all those last minute items that are so crucial to keeping the morning running smoothly: sunscreen (stick, cream and spray), sunglasses, hats, hair accessories, cameras, the iPad...

We managed to keep the drawers neat for a week or two then they turned into this:

The top drawer is overrun by my daughter's hair accessories and the bottom drawer seems to be home to every summer hat we own in addition to 3 boxes of tissues. A quick afternoon project was in order to transform the space into this:

Cute boxes from the dollar aisle at Target.

Plus the red polka dot basket that just appeared.

Ahh, order is restored, and our mornings can run smootly again.

  1. I love the dollar bins at Target! I have the bins with black on the outside and yellow on the inside. It's amazing how a simple organizational fix can make all the difference in the world.

  5. Having a catch all is so necessary at our house, and I've noticed the older us and our kids get the bigger the junk drawer needed! I still find hair pretties from my girls and they have not been wearing them for like 15 years.

  6. I like the idea of having a spot to check yourself before leaving the house. I have one at the top of our stairs but someday it may work better to create a little area like yours in our entry way. This post was also a great reminder for me to go stock up on sun screen. It looks like the beautiful weather is here to stay!

  10. Too funny - my girls are 12 and I still do their hair in the morning. They have a head full of curls that is impossible to comb so I have a stash of detangler and combs ready and waiting in my kitchen drawer! Love your organized space - after all - it's all about the hair!

Fab feature at Remodelaholic too! Your bath rocks!

  12. Seriously, those boxes were in the dollar bin? When you are done organizing your house (which you seem to be doing so well), I could use some help over here :)

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. I love hearing what you have to say! Sometimes I'm busy chasing after the three kids who can walk, or feeding the baby, but I promise, at some point I'll get back to you and head over to your blog (if you have one) to leave you a comment too:)
