Styling the Library Shelves

Time to neaten things up in the library.

We took out a few shelves from the top to leave three squares for large-scale accessories that I am in the process of acquiring:)

A friend sent me a link to this amazing sign from Three Potato Four, and I knew I had to have it. It comes in raw wood.

Without the paint on it:

But I thought it could use a little glitz.

With a quick application of gold metallic spray paint:

  1. Love your library! I have a question though. How are your books organized? We just moved and we have a ton of books and I'm trying to organize them in a way that is functional and pretty. Any ideas? Thanks!

  13. Jessica,
I really like the rhythm, pattern, and "breathing space" the removal of a couple of shelves created. Having a few larger objects in those spots will be a great counterpoint to the books. Happy "acquiring" of objects :)

  17. Came over from the Newbie Party to see a perfectly planned place for perusing books! Love it - even though I am mostly a primitive person, this appeals to me. Must be my love of books!

  18. I think lettering always makes a bookshelf look finished. I like it! And it looks like you've designed a lovely home from the looks of the library. Have fun decorating! I'd love to have you stop and see me at Quirky Vistas some time!

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. I love hearing what you have to say! Sometimes I'm busy chasing after the three kids who can walk, or feeding the baby, but I promise, at some point I'll get back to you and head over to your blog (if you have one) to leave you a comment too:)
