Perfect Children's Birthday Presents

Today is my daughter's 5th birthday, so I thought it would be appropriate to talk about my favorite gifts.

In our house we have a strict "no toys that make noise" rule. It's occasionally broken by the grandparents and great-grandparents, but at least I'm not listening to endless beeping and unbelievably annoying music. My children can use their imaginations and voices and make plenty of noise on their own, thank you:)

Other than art supplies in pre-packaged gift bags, my other favorite gift is a book-toy combination present.

book and tutu birthday present

I love to give an Angelina Ballerina book with a ballet tutu as a third birthday gift for a little girl. The perfect combination of something fun and something that will still encourage reading. I used the tutu as a stand-in for tissue paper.

I also like Make Way For Ducklings with a rubber ducky, or  Pat the Bunny with a stuffed bunny for a baby.

If You Give a Mouse a Cookie with mini chef utensils, If You Give a Pig a Pancake with pancake mix...

This particular three year old princess party asked guests to dress up.

and one more picture since it is my daughter's birthday!

  3. I love books. Way better then the zillion piece toys that end up in the trash. Happy birthday to your little one. My twins turned 4 yesterday.

  9. Happy birthday to your little girl! I love giving kids books and mine receiving them. They have soooo many! I like to try and find book combination gifts as well. Our house definitely doesn't follow the 'no noisy toy' rule! I often hear strange beeps and whirs while watching TV in the evening!

  12. Love those gift ideas! We started out with a no-noisemaker-toys rule, but our parents quickly nixed that plan. :) I think it might be time to clean them all out again. Just last night I almost went insane over one particular annoy-a-toy. It might need to get lost.

  13. Happy Birthday to the birthday girl!! I love this gift idea Jessica! My daughter is turning 16 this month, but when she was little she loved these books and had the dolls too. We often gave the Angelina books as birthday gifts too...they are such sweet books! Have a wonderful weekend! Angie xo

  14. Just found your blog vis TT&J, this is such a great idea for a bday present! As a mom, I certainly like books as gifts, rather than toys! I recently started a blog, and would love for you to stop by and follow me too! feathersandsunshine.blogspot.com

  15. Love this idea. I'm a big fan of "themed" gifts and I love giving books to people, regardless of age...but it's always fun when they are younger and just learning the joys of reading. I'm a huge book nerd myself. LOL

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. I love hearing what you have to say! Sometimes I'm busy chasing after the three kids who can walk, or feeding the baby, but I promise, at some point I'll get back to you and head over to your blog (if you have one) to leave you a comment too:)
