Owl Cupcakes

Perfect halloween treats, owl cupcakes
I think the how-to on these is pretty self explanatory.

I did doctor-up the box mix by adding vanilla extract and a bit of peppermint extract so they tasted less "from a box" and bit more "special holiday".

Then I used both original and special Halloween orange centered Oreos.

I did learn by trial an error that you just have to twist and pull the sides apart, so the cream will only stick to one side, and you'll be left with an "extra" plain cookie side.

I even tried using a hot knife, but they wouldn't split nicely for me.

Followed by M&M's for the eyes and noses.

This was the prefect part to involve the kiddos in.

When we ran out of Oreo's we just went free form with the M&M's.

I took them to a friend's Halloween party, transporting them i a cupcake carrier that had been waiting for me just for this very purpose!

They looked awesome on the cupcake stand, all ready to be eaten.

  5. Now I have to go eat Oreos. Thanks for that-- I love these cute owls, but I don't think that they would love me... unless they are perhaps calorie-free? In that case, yes please. :)

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. I love hearing what you have to say! Sometimes I'm busy chasing after the three kids who can walk, or feeding the baby, but I promise, at some point I'll get back to you and head over to your blog (if you have one) to leave you a comment too:)
