Heart Art

I do realize that tomorrow is Valentine's Day, so this is about as close as I come to a "themed" post. This was my very first foray into the DIY/crafting world and as with almost all projects here, I had my "helpers" with me. I wanted to create some art for the loft, bringing in yellow and navy, since those were the scrapbook papers my daughter chose (I couldn't find a way to incorporate my son's choice of a ribbed orange card stock, it was just too much).

I drew inspiration from Young House Love's butterfly project (here), which came from Little Green Notebook's project (here) and an awesome Etsy store (Sarah&Bendrix), featured on Secrets from a Stylist with Emily Henderson (here).

The shadow boxes, scrap booking paper and heart punch are all from Michael's.

Just punch out as many hearts as you'd like, fold in half to give dimension, then glue on the background. I did mine in a grid, just eyeballing the spacing, but you can measure and mark if you're that type of person:)

So cute! I loved YHL's butterfly art as well. The yellow really pops on the navy paper. I hope to make some artwork for the walls on our house soon. Nothing beats personalized artwork.

I like the opposite effect you got using the hole side and the punched side. Very cool!

Clicked over from Centsational Girl. I saw something similar at an Etsy shop, and I'm planning on recreating it to use as the guest book for our wedding :)

My fiance and I live in the Bay Area as well so I'll definitely be subscribing to your site now that I've found it.

Would love it if you'd stop by mine when you get a chance.

Take care,
Christine
