White Marble Dream Kitchen

You've seen a snapshot of the kitchen corner. That same corner with UV shades. Then I showed you a bit of it looking into the dining room. Here is the whole thing.

This is our coffee-making corner. My husband used to take a quick walk to coffee each morning, but now that we live way up the hill and have three kids to wrangle, that is pretty untenable. So we used a gift card and bought the Nespresso Pixie espresso maker  which he adores. It's pod-system so he can make once cup at a time. I don't need coffee, just give me the KitchenAid mixer and some muffins/cupcakes/frosting/cookies anytime!

The kitchen is my favorite room in the entire house. We splurged big time, amazing solid wood cabinets from Christopher Peacock Cabinets (with walnut drawers!), Calcutta Oro marble counters, polished nickel pulls, a killer 48 inch Wolf range, two (2!) Miele dishwashers, and the prettiest fridge and freezer ever (also from Miele). And, oh, it is so worth it.

Looking through the dining room to the living room (with deer head over the fireplace).

Doors closed.

And just because I'm in love with every single aspect of this room, I'll show you a few of my favorite drawers:

A walnut crescent knife block? Yes. Yes, please.

I love storing dishes in drawers, it's easier for my kids to help set the table and with no upper cabinets, the walls are free to have plenty of windows!

The wine glasses (I just buy them by the dozen from Overstock) are in a drawer in the island near both the fridge (for access to wine and champagne) and the dining room beyond.

You are a genius to put all those plates on the bottom so kids can help set the table or unload the dishwater! I didnt think of that and so until my kids hit a serious growth spurt, I'm doing all the dishes stuff! Oh well, live and learn :-) Thanks for all your sweet comments on my blog too.....I just added myself to your GFC.

How's that stemware drawer working for you? Looks pretty shaky. And why are they so afraid of color? In spite of their line of paint (colors), stark white is the only crayon in the box?

Loribeth said...

I think it's lovely. I love white kitchens with pale colored walls...they're so clean and fresh looking. I am curious about storing crystal in a drawer. Does it do okay in there? I'd be afraid the glasses would fall over and break. But I know they've really improved the function of drawer hardware to make them smoother, so maybe that's not an issue. I know they'd tip in the drawers in my house though, because my cabinets are from the '80s!! :)

Fabulous! I love white kitchens - so fresh! Love the two dishwashers - I have two also - a must!!

Love that you went without upper cabinets - with that view, who would want them! But your lower drawers are huge so it looks like you're not lacking for storage.

Also, your door detail is fabulous and the perfect symmetry of the view into your dining room is amazing!

Great job - drink a glass of wine for me!

Wow - you know I love your kitchen - classic white with marble is my favorite (we're kitchen twins)!

I also have 2 dishwashers - the best choice we made!

With that view, great choice to forgo upper cabinets - who needs them! Love all the storage in your cabinets.

And your door details - love them - and the view into your dining room - the symmetry is fabulous.

Great job - drink a glass of vino for me!

Jessica @ Stay at Home-ista said...

The stemware doesn't fall over since the drawer is pretty smooth and we have a non-skid liner in the bottom.

Also, it isn't crystal, just $3 glasses from Overstock, so I wouldn't be crushed if they broke:)

Oh wow! This one’s an eye-popping kitchen, just look at the capacity of ingredients this can hold to. It’s just like in the movies where you can see the private chef can do all his masterpieces with finesse. It’s like an ideal model for kitchen designs with all utensils thoroughly organized. With its color and design, it’s like an epitome of cleanliness.

Hi! I absolutely love your kitchen! I'm planning on updating mine next year and want to get marble. I've heard however, that it's really hard to clean and if marinara sauce, or acid from lemons, etc can ruin it. Is that true? Have you had that problem? I want the look and feel but not if it's a nightmere to keep clean.

Is there some sort of standard to this? Also, are your kitchen cabinets white? cream? off white? Thanks in advance! Gena
