Homemade Larabars #CookingFail

homemade larabars

I think it's good to share successes and failures, and this one was a failure. Unless you count the fact that we ate this with a spoon as a success. Which I don't.

ingredients for homemade larabars

It seemed so easy.

You read the ingredients on the back and think, "I can do this".

Dates? Check.

Almonds? Check.

Then I found a recipe on Pinterest and I KNEW I could do it.

Place dates in food processor? Check.

Pulse with almonds.

Add chocolate chips if desired until they are a fine meal.

Pat into a pan. Chill, then turn them out and enjoy.

Except that mine were WAY too crumbly.

At least I tried:)

I'll be honest--at first, I thought this said "Homemade Lard Bars." And I thought, "Hmmmm...these sound DELICIOUS! Let me slap one of those puppies onto my thighs." Then they started to sound healthy. I wept.
Make those cute children some brownies. Put frosting AND ice cream on top. Get them all sugared up. Tell them Granny Kirby said it was okay.

lol we all have these failed attempts! like my sangria that I bombed the first time.

I am the queen of failed attempts. I have often thought of starting a blog called, "Epic Fail!"

But those things look delicious whether in spoon or bar form. I wonder what you could add to make them more cohesive?

At least you gave it a shot! I have an OCD problem with wasting food, so I never really experiment. I've been working on dealing with it though!

They still look delicious to me!

Not kidding - this is exactly how most of my kitchen adventures turn out.

There needs to be a website called Fail-trest for all the Pinterest fails out there. I am sure you are not the first to experience this, but I thank you for posting about it. I need to follow you on Pinterest now!

Im so glad you posted about the not so successful cooking adventures. I thought it was just me having epic failures in the kitchen and feels good to know Im not alone :)
This slice may be saved being crumbled over cereal for breakfast?

I made something similar, but we rolled them into balls and they worked great. Maybe it's the spreading out that is the problem. :)

Well, were they delicious? They look pretty yummy! Maybe you can add it to yogurt like granola or topping on ice cream?
