Art in the Bathrooms

We are incredibly blessed to have an eleven foot long vanity in our master bathroom. That's right, my bathroom is bigger than any of my previous bedrooms. I know I'm lucky. I really do.

As I mentioned previously, I'm not much of a product person, but I do have makeup and medicine that needs to be stored away. On our search for attractive medicine cabinets we kept coming up empty. Most were behind-the-mirror ones, and we wanted larger mirrors to reflect the view. So we went with side medicine cabinets. These are amazing. You can put art in them so they don't look nearly as tacky as the regular ones (which we have in the other two bathrooms, I couldn't justify splurging on a medicine cabinet my kids can't even reach for five more years!).

How awesome is that?

After that, I had the incredible urge to spruce up our powder room. That rooms also functions as a changing station downstairs for the baby, so I spend a lot of time in there!

Before, the wall you could see behind you in the mirror was just blank. Now it has a fun, dimensional Matisse print (from Ikea). Now I just need a towel bar and I'll be set.

That medicine cabinet is such a great idea! I wonder how easy it would be to DIY. Do you mind if I pin it on Pinterest?

That's pretty tricky ;)
Party guests will never be able to snoop!
They won't know it's there.

Well, NOW they will, but you know... they didn't used too.

So much better than the tacky medicine cabinet I had in my bathroom growing up. I wouldn't mind having one of these in my bathroom.

Brilliant. The art is so much better than a side mirror.

Great idea for a way to disguise the medicine cabinet! You'd never know that it's there.

Is that a water wheel I spotted by the tub? Ok, so I get side tracked admiring your view.

Your house is stunning... maybe the most stunning I have ever seen. I have to know what color that wall is that the Matisse is on? I have been looking at that shade family to repaint my master bedroom and that color is IT! I shall be following-- can't wait to see more!

I really enjoy your style. It's so clean and fresh, but still has warmth to it. I'm sure the kids love all the beautiful art stimulation. Glad I stumbled onto your blog.

Love the medicine cabinet! I've never had one, nor ever thought about getting one, but if I did, I'd choose yours!

Great idea to use art as a cover for the medicine cabinet. I have one covered with an ugly plastic shutter thingy -- I know what to do with it now! I would love it if you would consider linking to Busy Monday at A Pinch of Joy, a Sunday through Thursday link party for ideas that make life easier, better and more fun!

I have rigged up those side medicine cabinets with art before. Didn't know that they made them for art now. Love the art you chose. Who needs art in your house with the view and the architecture!

I love that medicine cabinet! Did you make it or buy it? If you bought it would you mind sharing where you got it? I'm a designer doing a bathroom project for a friend and I think this would be perfect! Thanks!
